Welcome to getting started
with Google Looker Studio. After watching this video, you will be able
to describe what Google Looker Studio is and
use it to create reports. Google Looker Studio, originally named
Google Data Studio is essentially a free
cloud based tool that you can use to create
easy to read reports. Google Looker Studio
enables you to visualize your data using a
variety of visualizations, including dashboards
and multi page reports. In this demonstration,
let's start with how you access Google Looker Studio
and its key components. You access Looker
Studio by navigating to lookerstudio.google.com
in your web browser. All you need to access
Google Looker Studio is a valid free Google account. You will be redirected to the recent section of the
Looker Studio home page, where you will see a
list of templates to choose from to start
your first report. You would also see
any recent reports and dashboards you have
already worked on. Here, on the reports tab, we can see that there are
no recent files as this is our first time opening
the Looker Studio interface. The same applies to
the data sources and explorer tabs, too. The template gallery can
be accessed by clicking the templates item in the left navigation
menu on the home page. You can also browse the various templates
by their category, such as Google Analytics. You can filter and display multiple categories
at the same time, such as Google Analytics, Google sheets, and big query. The icons in the
category dropdown, indicate which ones you
are currently displaying. You create reports in Looker
Studio to enable you to visualize your data and get better insights
into your data. You can then share those reports with your colleagues
or customers. You can either create
a blank report from scratch and then add
components to it, or you can create a report
from an existing template and either use it as is or modify it to meet
your own standards. To create a report
from a template, you open templates and then select a template
from the gallery. In the template. You can
use the provided dataset or choose to upload and use your own data and populate
the template with it. You can start to edit
the template by choosing the edit and share button
at the top of the page. This will make a copy
of the template report, which will now be displayed
in your recent list. You can now open this copy
report to start editing it. Click the edit button at
the top to get started. This opens the report
editor window where you can make changes to the copy report
from the template. For example, let's
change the title. Next, let's look at how
to create a blank report. First, we need to go
back to the home page, and the easiest way to
do that is to click the Google Looker logo
in the top left corner. From the Create button
on the home page, you can create reports, data sources, and explorers. In this case, we are
creating a report. On the add data to report page, you need to select a connector
for your data source. In this case, we are going
to choose a file to upload. After selecting a
connector type, you can either drag and drop your file directly
onto the window or choose to upload a file by navigating to the file
on your file system. The file will start
being processed. Once the file has finished
being processed and uploaded, the status will
change to uploaded. After you click Add to add it as a data source
to your blank report, you will be prompted and asked if you want to
add it to your report. The untitled report is
displayed with the data added. Looker Studio will
make assumptions about how you want the data
displayed and visualized. But you can modify
this as you see fit and add more data fields
to the report to create more visualizations
from the view option in the top right of the page shows you the report as a
user would see it. The report will be displayed
in read only mode. Clicking the edit button returns you to
editing mode again. You can use the share
option in either edit or view mode to share your
report with colleagues. The report can be shared
using an email invitation either to individual users
or to groups of users. It can also be
shared via a link. You can copy the link
and send it directly to those people who you wish to be able to access
it via the link. Other sharing options include scheduling the delivery
of email invitations, embedding the report
as code or as URL, and downloading the
report as a PDF and then sharing it as a
file attachment instead. In this video, you learn that. You can create reports, data sources, and explorers
in Google Looker Studio. You can create reports from existing templates
or from scratch. You can use the
provided template data or use your own uploaded data. You need to put the
report editor window into edit mode to make
changes to a report. You can connect to data
sources using one of the many built in connectors
in Looker Studio, or just upload a file
as a data source, and you can share
your reports with colleagues using email
invitations or links.
